DECLARATION ADOPTED – PALILULA MUNICIPALITY, NIS WITHOUT GMO

At the sixth regular meeting of Palilula Municipal Assembly, in NKC on April 8, the councilors adopted the Declaration for Palilula Municipality in Nis without genetically modified food. With this act, the territory of Nis Palilula Municipality, concluded Milos Stojkovic, Municipal Assembly president, was proclaimed for the territory without production and products of genetically modified organisms (GMO free zone) with which act this organization of local self government of the City of Nis, after Mediana and Pantelej municipalities, joined the cities of Serbia and EU that said STOP to genetically modified food.

`We started with the fact that local self government is the closest to solving the problem of life environment, emphasized Boban Dzunic. In the cooperation with the citizens and organizations of civil societies that showed the worry for lack of scientific secure and safe information about the risks and consequences of GMO usage in products from GMO for the protection of our natural resources and influences to people health, we decided to support the protection of plant and animal species that actually make the basis of our healthy agriculture and traditional nutrition`.

After the Adoption of minutes from the Fifth regular Municipality Assembly meeting of Palilula, during this meeting the Decision on loan of Palilula Municipality for the financing of continuance of project realization `Cooperation for sustainable development in the sphere of cultural tourism in Bobov Dol and Palilula Municipalities` and `Promotion of cross border cooperation over modernization of social infrastructure in the sphere of sport in Botevgrad and Palilula Municipalities` passed and then the Decision on the Budget amendments of Palilula Municipality for 2013. According to Boban Dzunic words, aiming at realization of the continuance of these projects, cooperation with EU and partner organizations in Bulgaria, Municipality is forced to take a loan of 18 million dinars so to realize these project activities valuable 400 000 Euros.

At the Sixth meeting of Palilula Municipality the Decisions on education of the Council for European integrations; Decisions on dismissal of president of the Commission for communal affairs and work with citizens councils; Decisions on appointment of the president of the Commission for communal affairs and work with citizens councils passed.
